Descrição
Our bronze sculptures are the most durable in our collection. For the casting process, we use a resin print to create our molds. We collaborate with a handful of foundries that cast our sculptures. Once the casting is completed, the raw sculptures return to our studio. There, we start working: we grind away the casting channels, weld holes shut, refine the sculpture, and then give it character using heating and chemicals (patination).
The great advantage of a bronze sculpture? It lasts a lifetime. If a bronze sculpture falls off your shelf, the risk is a dent in your laminate, not in the sculpture itself. Use the advantages below – but certainly also the disadvantages – to inform your customers well.
Advantages
- Durability: Bronze is a robust material that withstands the test of time, both indoors and outdoors.
- Look and feel: The sensation of holding a bronze sculpture is very different from that of a bronze-look material. Bronze has a cooler, heavier texture, making it feel exactly as you would expect from an authentic artwork.
- Unique character: Due to the artisanal casting process, each bronze sculpture has its own unique appearance and story.
Disadvantages
- Color variation: Due to different alloys used by different foundries, color differences can occur between bronze sculptures.
- Imperfections: During the casting process, small imperfections such as holes or irregularities can occur, which are part of the artisanal character of the material.
- Visible processing traces: Processes such as milling, patination, and welding can sometimes leave visible traces on the surface of the bronze sculpture, adding to the handmade character but may be a consideration for some.
- Diversity in detail: Since each casting is unique and each sculpture requires its own specific casting channels, the level of detail can vary between different sculptures. If preserving all details is crucial for your customer, bronze may not be the optimal choice.
- Delivery time: On average, our sculptures spend 3 months at the foundry. This is in case everything goes well. Prior to that, we need to print, make molds, prepare and ship, and after the sculptures return, they are sorted, welded, refined, and colored. All of this results in an average delivery time of 5 to 6 months. Always inform your customer well about this delivery time and mention that it may increase if something goes wrong during the casting process. Although this fortunately doesn’t happen often, it’s important that your customer is aware of this possibility. Of course, we’ll immediately notify you via Asana if something goes wrong and there is a delay.
Make sure your customer can examine the examples closely during the appointments so they get a clear understanding of the advantages and disadvantages of a bronze-cast sculpture.
Please note: Our bronze sculptures are handcrafted and cast using solid bronze. The production process depends on raw materials and energy, in particular bronze and gas.
We review our prices on a monthly basis, in line with other precious metals such as silver and gold. When changes in bronze and energy prices lead to structurally higher production costs, this may result in a price adjustment.
By reviewing prices monthly, we ensure fair pricing while maintaining the quality and craftsmanship of our sculptures.
