Beschreibung

The wax-coated statues are created based on a resin print. After the print is refined, sanded, and sandblasted, and potentially weighted, it is hand-coated with a layer of wax, in a color of choice and opaque, or with shadow accents. To compare the difference, you can select an option under post-processing.

Advantages

  • Price: Statues with wax coating are relatively low-priced, making them an accessible option for various customers.
  • Detail: Thanks to the use of resin printers, we can produce statues with a remarkably high level of detail, bringing even the finest details to life without visible print lines.
  • No print lines: Printing in resin ensures that there are no print lines, which sometimes occur with other 3D prints, resulting in a smooth and professional finish.

Disadvantages

  • Possible imperfections: Despite our efforts to finish each statue as perfectly as possible, there may still be small sanding scratches, print circles, and other imperfections visible, especially in statues with a very high level of detail.
  • Color variation: Because the wax is applied by various of our colleagues and the shadow accents differ depending on body type and type of statue, (optical) color differences may exist. It is important to make the customer aware that they are choosing a type of statue but the end result may look somewhat different.
  • Visible touched-up spots: Although we do our best to touch up rough prints, light spots may appear where the print or handwork has been touched up. This is considered normal for this material, but it is important to inform customers about this.
  • Print spots: Although resin prints fortunately do not have visible build layers, it is still a printed statue. Typical of resin prints are the print circles, which may resemble fingerprints but are a result of building up the various ‘pixels’ that make up the 3D print. We largely sand away the print circles and ensure that they are no longer visible on the belly and buttocks, as the emphasis here is too much on the unevenness. Unfortunately, completely sanding them away is not always possible, so be aware and inform your customer that these print circles or lines may be slightly visible.

During appointments, we recommend that your customers carefully inspect the statues so that they have a clear understanding of both the advantages and disadvantages of statues with wax coating. For our final check, we require that imperfections should not be overwhelmingly present. For example, if a print line or print circle stands out more than the belly and detracts from the overall appearance, the statue will be touched up or rejected.
